DESCRIPTION Picton Ontario lies at the head of an excellent, well-protected bay, south of the junction of Long Reach and Adolphus Reach. It is a superb harbour and, in the 1800's, it was an important commercial shipping point. The surrounding Prince Edward County is a beautiful agricultural county with lots to see and do for a curious traveler who enjoys being off the beaten track. Picton, with its fine harbour is a delightful town with lots for a visiting sailor to enjoy. |

APPROACHES From the junction of Long Reach and Adolphus Reach, a bearing of approximately 222°T will bring you down Picton Bay. Near the end of the bay, you will approach Chimney Point on your starboard. Picton Ontario is obscured by the point. Abeam Chimney Point, you will pick up QP 10, a Fl GREEN channel marker. The channel markers will lead you right into Picton harbor. |

MARINAS, YACHT CLUBS, MOORINGS, ANCHORAGES Prince Edward Yacht Club (613) 476-5585 VHF 68 PEYC is on your starboard as you pass Chimney Point. The club has about 6 dozen slips and there is room for 2-3 transient vessels. There is no fuel dock or pumpout station. Water and power are available at slips. Washrooms and showers are available. The club has a lounge and bar for visitors to enjoy. Claramount Inn & Spa (613) 476-2709 Claramount Inn is located directly across the bay from Prince Edward Yacht Club. They have several slips for transient sailors. There is no fuel dock or pumpout station. Water and power hookups are available. There are washrooms, showers and laundry facilities available. The Inn features lovely rooms, a spa and a top-notch restaurant. There is also a swimming pool and picnic area on their beautiful grounds. Picton Marina (613) 476-7438 VHF 68 Picton Marina is the municipal marina. It is located on the east side of the bay, south of Claramount Inn & Spa. There is a long (100 ft/30 m) wall with space for several transient boats to tie up. There is a fuel dock (diesel and gasoline) and a pumpout station. Water and power hookups are available, as are washrooms, showers and laundry facilities. There are picnic areas at the Marina. Tip Of The Bay Marina (613) 476-2156 VHF 68 Tip of the Bay Marina is immediately south of the municipal Picton Marina. They have 63 slips with about 2 dozen available for transient sailors. There is no fuel dock or pumpout station. There is water and power. Washrooms and showers are available. The Marina and its hotel have picnic areas on their grounds and there is internet access. Picton Harbour Inn (613) 476-2186 Picton Harbour Inn is located at the head of Picton Bay. There is no fuel dock or pumpout station. There are water and power hookups. Washrooms, showers and laundry facilities are available at the Inn. The Inn has lovely rooms, a casual and comfortable restaurant, a swimming pool and picnic areas on their grounds. There is also internet access. Anchorage There is a charted anchorage ground on the east side of the bay, to the north of Picton Marina. |

REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE, PROVISIONING, BANKS/ATM's Rands Mobile Marine Service willcarry out engine and electrical repairs at dockside, whereever you are tied up. Giant Tiger is the nearest grocery store to the harbour. In addition to groceries, it carried a wide assortment of other consumer products. CIBC is th nearest bank to the harbour. It has both counter service and ATMs. |

PLACES TO EAT Picton Ontario has lots of pleasant places to eat and relax. The Lighthouse Restaurant at the Picton Harbour Inn is a casual restaurant and a great place for breakfast. Clara's at the Claramount Inn & Spa is an upscale restaurant with gourmet meals served on a beautiful verandah overlooking the bay. For seafood, try Currah's Cafe and Restaurant. Coaches Pub and Grillhouse is a popular pub, especially its outdoor patio. The Acoustic Grill offers great burgers and great live music. Often, there are Live @ The Acoustic Grill performances that are recorded and available for purchase. |

THINGS TO DO/SEE/VISIT There is a lot to experience in Picton Ontario. Museum and antique buffs will find opportunities to while away pleasant afternoon hours. Check out the Macauley Heritage Park Museum which showcases life in the 19th century. Gift shops can be found throughout the downtown. There is a hiking and bicycle trail that leads off into the county. Regent Theatre offers live performances throughout the summer.
