Gore Bay- Harbourfest weekend 2018

A great marina and town for reprovisioning. The marina facilities are great- the help for docking is very professional, the internet is fast, the new washrooms and showers are very clean and private (built in the last year or two). Pumpout was only $12.00. There is a coin operated laundry with dryers (no detergent available) The Canadian Yacht Charters marine store was well stocked with charts, guidebooks, fenders, anchors, rope, t-shirts, Tilly hats, and even frozen fish, fudge, and ice cream. Along the waterfront, the town has built an extensive boardwalk system that makes getting around very straight forward. Close to the Dockmasters office is a great craft brewery called 'Splitrail'..well worth a visit(they have 4 or so draft beers on tap and a pizza foodtruck on site). The grocery store is now a Valumart and it was well stocked with fresh and other food at very good prices. There is a new restaurant at the harbour pavilion called 'Rocky Racoon , not licenced, but serving Nepalese food (great tasty curry, good whitefish) .There is a great take-out fish and chips restaurant in the town called 'Codmothers'..very good. The Harbourfest weekend was right by the marina and featured an entertaining waterskiing and hoverboard show, a pancake breakfast ($10), an all you can eat fish fry of whitefish, corn and fries,($20).. and numerous water races with cardboard boats, dinghys, and tubes. also live music and a dance on the Saturday.. a great weekend.
