DESCRIPTION Bath, Ontario is a quiet town founded by United Empire Loyalists in the days of the American Revolution. Originally a busy port in the early days of the 1800's, it slipped into its quiet existence as it was bypassed by the expanding railroads. Today, it is a quiet village that offers a welcome stop for cruising sailors. |
APPROACHES Located approximately 14 nm west of Kingston, Bath lies along the shore of a secluded cove. Just east of the harbour is a Flashing Red light (KN8) that marks the end of the shoal extending from Bath Point. Keep that light to your starboard and enter directly into the cove. At the head of the cove is a government dock. There are no facilities at this dock. East of Bath Point is Loyalist Cove Marina. This is the main sailing facility in Bath. The marina is bounded on the south by an 'L'-shaped rubble-stone breakwater surmounted with a row of white lights. Entrance is on the east side of the marina, around the short leg of the 'L'. |
MARINAS, YACHT CLUBS, MOORINGS, ANCHORAGES Loyalist Cove Marina 613-352-3478 VHF 16, 68 This is a full-service marina It has about a dozen transient slips available. There is a fuel dock (diesel and gasoline) and a pumpout station. Water and power are available dockside. It offers a full range of repair and maintenance services as well as a club house for sailors. It is situated about a 10-15 minute walk from the village centre. |
REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE, PROVISIONING, BANKS/ATM's Loyalist Cove Marina is a full repair and maintenance service offering engine and electrical work, fibreglass and canvass repair and painting. Haulout is also available. There are also washrooms, showers, a picnic area and internet access. Within a 10-15 minute walk to the village, you will find a Schell's Market the local grocery store (with beer, wine and liquor), a post office and a bank with ABM as well as several local shops. |
MEDICAL SERVICES Kingston General Hospital (613-549-6666) is the nearest full-service hospital, located approximately 16 mi / 27 km east in Kingston, ON. PharmaPlus Bath Pharmacy (613-352-770101) is located in the village. |
